What Data I Collect and Why

Contact form submissions

When you use the contact form on this website, I collect your name, email address, organisation (if provided), and the content of your message. This data is collected and processed on the basis of legitimate interest — specifically, to respond to enquiries from people who have chosen to reach out.

This data is stored in Wix Forms and in my email inbox. It is not shared with third parties and is not used for marketing purposes unless you have separately opted in to communications.

Email newsletter and guide download

If you submit your email address to download the guide or receive notifications of new articles, I collect your email address. This data is collected on the basis of your consent, given at the point of submission.

Your email address will be used only to send the guide and, if you have indicated this preference, occasional notifications when new articles are published. You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting me directly at contact@martinpelham.com.

Website analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the site — which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, and where traffic comes from. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information.

Analytics data is collected only with your consent, given via the cookie consent banner when you first visit the site. If you decline analytics cookies, no tracking data is collected. You can change your cookie preferences at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer.

The analytics data collected is anonymised and aggregated. I do not use it to identify individual visitors. For more information about how Google handles this data, see Google's Privacy Policy.

Data I do not collect

This website does not collect payment information, sensitive personal data, or data from children. There is no user registration or login system.

Cookies

This website uses the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies — required for the website to function. These cannot be declined and do not require consent.

  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to understand site usage. These are only set with your consent.

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time via the cookie settings link in the footer of this website.

How Long I Keep Your Data

  • Contact form enquiries — retained for as long as is necessary to respond to and follow up on your enquiry, and for up to 24 months thereafter.

  • Email addresses (guide / newsletter) — retained until you unsubscribe. On receipt of an unsubscribe request your email address will be deleted within 30 days.

  • Analytics data — retained by Google Analytics for 14 months, which is the minimum retention period available. Aggregated, anonymised reports may be retained indefinitely.

Your Rights Under UK GDPR

Under UK data protection law, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — you can request a copy of any personal data I hold about you.

  • Right to rectification — you can ask me to correct inaccurate data.

  • Right to erasure — you can ask me to delete your personal data. I will action this within 30 days except where retention is required by law.

  • Right to restrict processing — you can ask me to pause processing of your data in certain circumstances.

  • Right to data portability — where processing is based on consent, you can request your data in a portable format.

  • Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent (email subscriptions, analytics cookies), you can withdraw consent at any time.

  • Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interest.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact me at contact@martinpelham.com. I will respond within one calendar month.

If you are not satisfied with how I handle your request, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. The following third-party services process data on behalf of this website:

  • Wix.com — website hosting and form data storage. Wix is GDPR compliant. See Wix Privacy Policy.

No personal data is transferred outside the UK or European Economic Area except where the third-party services listed above operate under appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent).

Security

This website is served over HTTPS. Wix implements industry-standard security measures for data in transit and at rest. I take reasonable steps to protect personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.
